The Only Thing We Have to Fear . . .
G. Michael Hopf said, “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And weak men create hard times.”
EXCERPT:
I am sure everyone recognizes the title of this missive from the admonition of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. That act, by a belligerent Imperial Japan, thrust America into a war fought in two theaters of operation. It was a war against a clear and present evil that had to be resoundingly defeated and would cost the lives of many Americans. However, this nation, which had sought to avoid involvement in World War II, answered the call to arms, not only on the kinetic battlefield but also back home.
Americans chose courage and sacrifice and were focused on the end state, unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and imperial Japan. We were unified as one, and I can speak to that personally as the son of a World War II veteran. For Americans, then, fear or failure was not an option. And, today, we as Americans must dig deep and exhibit that same level of commitment.
Joshua 1:9 (NIV): “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Couldn't agree more with what you've put forth in this missive. We elected a leader who is willing to fight to keep this nation safe and secure, We the People Need to Stand with Him. Sorry this isn't for the Chicken Little crowd.
