This We'll Defend
Soldiers take an oath to support and defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic.
EXCERPT:
I just finished ordering a birthday cake for someone turning 250 years old this Saturday . . . and no, they are not receiving social security. This Saturday is the 250th anniversary of the founding of our United States Army, June 14, 1775, by the Continental Congress. The amazing thing about this, along with the establishment of our US Navy (October 1775) and US Marine Corps (November 1775), is that before there was an America, there was an Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. Before there was a nation, there were those who would take a position on freedom’s rampart. See, America is not a geographical place, it is an ideal, a concept, a vision of natural rights theory, individual sovereignty over the institution of government, self-governance, and honoring individual liberties and rights . . . and I mean for citizens!
June 14th is also Flag Day, when we honor the symbol of our nation, which has gone through several iterations of development. And so, it is quite fitting that the birthday, establishment, of the United States Army coincides with Flag Day. Why? Because the motto of the US Army is “This We’ll Defend,” not just a commitment to terra firma, but instead to a core set of principles, beliefs, and values.
100% this.
