Just recently, there was a case in Rochester, Minnesota, that stemmed from an April 28, 2025, incident where a woman named Shiloh Hendrix used racial slurs towards an 8-year-old Somali child and his father. The incident began when the Somali boy went and took an applesauce container from the baby bag of Ms. Hendrix, who was at the park with her child. The Somali boy was identified by the father as being autistic. Ms. Hendrix, who is white, used the racial slur towards the child and the father. She was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. The trial ended with a split decision convicting her of one count of disorderly conduct, referring to her using the racial slur towards the father. She was fined $1,000, must serve 200 hours of community service, and the 90-day jail sentence was stayed by the judge.

It follows the Supreme Court ruling on burning the American flag as “free speech “, but burning any other flag such as the Pride flag, the Palestinian flag or the Mexican flag) as criminal behavior and violators will be arrested. It’s not much of a jump from there to curtailing negative words. Animal Farm foretold it.
