I remember being in elementary school in West Des Moines, Iowa in the 1950’s & 60’s and daily pledging allegiance to OUR Flag 🇺🇸.
Also buying a 10 cent or 25 cent weekly Saving Bond stamp.
When your stamp book got $ 12.50, you went to the bank and got a $ 25 Savings Bond and waited for the Saving Bond to mature.
As a young Marine in the late 1960’s and 70’s, I bought a saving bond a month.
Every person knew someone that served in WW II and/or Korea. Many knew those that were without limbs and under headstones in National Cemeteries.
Yes, America has lost its National Character.
I fear only the intense hardship of a major, blood-letting war will put America back on course.
